Guided by the ethos ‘Creating Legends’ and the tenacious pursuit of ‘intellectual luxury’, the minimal and angular design finds inspiration from the raw and geometric aesthetics of Brutalist architecture. Handmade in Switzerland with great care and attention to detail, the sculptural, multi-facetted ornament is satin finished with contrasting polished chamfers to accentuate the object’s three-dimensionality, employing techniques to achieve an ‘anglage’ effect, a nod to haute horlogerie. In contemplation of the story background of The Brutalist, the shape of the brooch is also reminiscent of ‘spomenik’ – concrete memorial monuments commemorating WWII battles that can be seen in the old sites of Yugoslavia. With respect to the enduring spirit of the survivors and fallen heroes, the brooch is purposely made in sterling silver to symbolise strength, unity, and commitment.
